During the six weeks leading up to Easter we will be exploring Vocation.
Is it only a small group of special people who have a "vocation" or are we each called of God . . . ??

Have you seen the film Billy Elliot?
It’s the story of a young lad from the north east, the son of a coal miner. Billy’s life is changed forever when he finds a dance class meeting in the hall where he has gone for his boxing lesson. The film tells how Billy discovers within himself a passion and talent for ballet and goes on to give expression to the sense of “call” that he feels.

We’ll be using Billy Elliot and a couple of other films in our Lent studies to help us explore what it might mean for us to be “called” of God.

Sometimes we are tempted to believe that “calling” is just for a small number of “special” people, for those who have a clear vocation to serve God in a particular way. We often think of “vocation” only in terms of the caring professions – doctors, nurses, teachers, pastors, preachers and ministers.

During Lent, there’s an open invitation to come and think again about what “calling” might really involve for each one of us. These are vital questions. What is God calling us to be and to do as a church? What is our true calling as individuals? How willing are we to co-operate with God and what are the things that might stop us living out God’s call in our lives?

The Lent course will begin on Shrove Tuesday February 5th at 730pm in the chapel at Les Adams, and continue on the next four Thursdays. The aim is that each session will have plenty of variety, and will be enjoyable, as well as giving us things to study and think about.
No need to book ahead - Just turn up on the night!

730pm ‘til 830pm on Feb 5, 14, 21, 28 & Mar 6 & 11.
